A nice and easy tour into Grøndalen on gravel roads. Combine it with a moutain hike, golf further into the valley, or just find a nice spot along the way to enjoy the sun.
Bike ride that starts at Tuv, and takes you into Grøndalen. There are nice bike paths and gravel roads the entire way there so this is a nice trip to bring children along on. In addition to it being a nice trip with good roads there's not a huge amount of elevation throughout, and most of it happens in the start of it.
The first kilometer of the tour is on a bike path alongside the river, once the path ends by Kroken follow the road to where a new path starts. This path will take you across a couple of small bridges by the river and will then take you to a crossroads on a gravel road. Take a left on the gravel road past Hallenuten and Fagersetvatnet all the way to Bjørnebergstølen.
Alternatively you could stop and fish in Fagersetvatnet or do a detour up Hallenuten or Venåshøvda.
At the gravel road crossroads, you may instead take a right and follow the asphalt road to the left further into Grøndalen which would eventually lead you to Hemsedal Golfalpin. Here you may enjoy golf or tennis.
Remember your helmet!
Tips and hints
Bring a fishing rod or tennis clothes to combine your tour with an extra experience.
From the large red brick building at Tuv you can continue along the stream Grøndøla towards Kroken in the Grøndalen valley. Follow the dirt track which goes along the field next to the stream. At Kroken you can hike up the Topp20 peak Karisetberget (very easy) or follow further to Brekkefossen waterfall. At the end of Fagerset gravel road, there’s a demanding tractor track taking one further into the Grøndalen valley towards Hemsedal golf course. Grøndalsveien: Go right and follow the green track to the tarmac Grøndalen road. Then you will have to go about 100 m uphill, further into the Grøndalen valley, before getting back onto a gravel road towards Fagerset. Brekkefossen: Keep the red dirt track that follow the river to Brekkefossen and Fagerset track. Karisetrunden: Go left before Fagerset lake and follow a black marked bike path up and downhill a dirt track back to Kroken
