Cow Pen is a great place to start a ride from - there are several route options here. This one heads initially over to Boulogne and the old distillery before a long climb through woods/ farmland up to Paraclete. We explored above Paraclete on a very long (and in places steep) farm track until it ended. Beautiful area. Return via Mt Horne and a great trail to descend on. Wash off in the river at Cow Pen when you get back. Even better take some beers.
