East Austrian Borderland Trail (07)
The Eastern Austrian Borderland Trail is one of the ten largest long-distance hiking trails in Austria and leads from the northern Waldviertel to southeastern Styria.
The East Austrian Border Trail is marked with the number 07 and crosses the federal provinces of Lower Austria, Vienna, Burgenland and Styria. The long-distance trail also crosses the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. From Nebelstein in the northwest of the Waldviertel on the border with the Czech Republic, the trail first passes through the Thaya highlands. The flat, hilly landscape is a perfect introduction to hiking. Through the Weinviertel we reach the Danube, which we follow for a while, and further through the Seewinkel in Burgenland. The Hochwechsel on the border of Lower Austria and Styria is the highest peak of the tour. In Styria, the route first passes through Joglland in the east and then Vulkanland in the southeast. The destination is Bad Radkersburg. The stages of the long-distance hiking trail are largely classified as very easy or easy.
