6-7 day hike
A part of the trail was impassable because of a cold winter (2008-2009) with a lot of snow. Due to the ammount of snow, a lot of trees (actually a whole forrest) snapped by the weight of the snow.
So we had to go down and took a part by public transportation.
A few mountain cabins (Stefanika, Kamenna Chata, Polana and Utulna Durkova) were guarded, but most of them are not. We stayed at Polana and Durkova.
Also, a mountain cabin can also be a camp site, without any cabin at all.
My opinion : more difficult then the GR20 in Corsica because you don't know what to expect.
Safety informationThe trail is well signed by the familiar Red/white paint / arrows and signs.
At the mountain cabins or camp site's we visited it was possible to refill the water canteens.
