The European long-distance hiking trail E10 connects the north of Finland with the south of Spain and runs on German territory from the island of Rügen to the Muskauer Heide. It passes through varied natural and cultural landscapes in the eastern half of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The starting point of our tour is at Cape Arkona on Rügen, Germany's largest island. From the very north of the island, we quickly leave the two striking lighthouses behind us and walk past long stretches of beach and dunes to Glowe. Then the first highlights await us in the Jasmund National Park, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Two sharp climbs lead us to the impressive Künigstuhl and the rugged chalk cliffs on the eastern part of the coast. From Sassnitz we continue through the inland of Jasmund and later via Bergen and Lauterbach on the Rügener Ostküste. At Stralsund - the gateway to the island - we finally cross over to the mainland. From the edge of the Greifswald Bodden we first pass through Mecklenburg Switzerland, whose varied relief is soon replaced by the inland waters and forests of the Mecklenburg Lake District.
