Freudenthalweg
We start our hike in the south of Hamburg and pass the outdoor pond. Now the Schulteichgraben leads us into a large wooded area. The route continues via Westerhof, Klecken, Kleckerwald, Itzenbüttel and Osterberg to Holm-Seppensen.
Stage 2: Holm/Seppensen - Wilsede (22 km)
Today we hike through a beautiful forest to Handeloh, where we can explore the planetary nature trail. Shortly afterwards, we enter Inzmühlen, the gateway to the Lüneburger Heide nature reserve, which is an exceptional nature experience, not only during the high season from August to September.
Stage 3: Wilsede - Schneverdingen (18 km)
From Wilsede the route leads through a varied heathland landscape: we pass the Wilseder Berg, woods, ponds, burial ponds and, of course, the open heathland. The stage destination Schneverdingen is only a few metres from the course of the Freudenthal Trail. Here we can visit the heath garden and the Pietzmoor moor.
Stage 4: Schneverdingen - Soltau (20 km)
We follow the idyllic course of the Böhme in a southerly direction all day and hike via Heber, Surbostel and Ahlften to Soltau. In the evening, if you want to, you can soothe your body and soul in the Soltau thermal baths.
Stage 5: Soltau - Bad Fallingbostel (23 km)
Fields, woods and meadows alternate constantly in the hilly landscape of today's stage. Except for the village of Dorfmark, we only pass a few houses and farms and enjoy the solitude of nature to the full.
Stage 6: Bad Fallingbostel - Sieverdingen (21 km)
From the state-recognised Kneipp spa of Fallingbostel, we once again follow the Böhme and take a long curve to Walsrode. The Heide Museum in a typical Heide hall, the Walsrode Monastery and the former town hall are definitely worth a longer stay in the town. The many new impressions pleasantly shorten the way back to Sieverdingen.
Stage 7: Sieverdingen - Verden (Aller) (22 km)
The Freudenthalweg also offers us pure hiking pleasure today: the Lohheide, the Salingsloher Forst, the Lindhoop and finally the Tütheide accompany us to Verden on the Aller. Standing in Verden Cathedral, St. John's Church or the Verden Historical Museum, we can reflect on the journey. For those who want more action, the Magic Park Verden is the place to go, because the amusement park for children offers everything to do with fairytales and magic.
