St. Francis' Way
One of the most beautiful Italian pilgrimage routes is the Way of St. Francis from Sant'Ellero, passing through Assisi and then arriving in Rome. The route runs mainly on trails, country / forest roads as well as roads with little traffic through various landscapes. Along the Tuscan and Umbrian Apennines, and hilly landscapes of Umbria and Lazio, you pass through numerous places where St. Francis lived and worked: The place of birth (Assisi), Chiusi della Verna, where he received the stigmate, and monasteries, churches , hermitages and places of worship of the saint scattered in the middle of nature. In less than a month you can walk through wonderful natural landscapes in three different regions of Italy, and pass important spiritual sites in the life of Francis of Assisi. There is always the opportunity to linger, have fun and get lost in your own thoughts.
