From Amsterdam to the border with Germany, this is the first leg of my hike from Amsterdam to Sarajevo.

I connected several long distance trails like the Pilgrims path in The Netherlands, the GR57 along the Ourthe in the the Ardennes and a little bit of the Müllerthaltrail in Luxembourg. I added my camps as well, but keep in mind that most of them are wild- or garden camps. There are plenty of official campsites and B&B's along the way, but I travel without budget and wanted to see if there was a possible different approach. And so there is.

Author’s recommendation

Although the route is well marked, I used a GPS with the original GPX-track to navigate. I can recommend that to everyone who doesn't want to carry the hiking guidebook or maps.

Safety information

For safe wildcamping there are the so called "paalkampeerplaatsen". They're free, but you have to know where to find them ;). In Belgium there are the "Bivakzones" where it's allowed to put up your tent for one night.
