Eifelsteig (Stage 2) - The brittle charm of the Hohes Venn
The eye loses itself in the expanses of the "Hohes Fenn" nature park. An infinite peace emanates from this moor. The hedges along the way are covered with mosses and lichens, the birches sway gently in the wind and the Eifelsteig makes its way along narrow wooden footbridges on the border with Belgium. Wonderful views are offered over the next few kilometres.
The path runs directly along the border to Belgium. The region in the High Fagnes is very rich in water, numerous rushes and grasses cover the swampy area. After a break in Mützenich we continue along the small Laufenbach stream to Monschau. Arrived at the stage destination Monschau, it is worth visiting the Roman glassworks, the museum "Rotes Haus" and the historic mustard mill.
Highlights along the way:
- Palsen (Ice Age lakes) in the Hohes Venn
- Brewery Museum St. Vither-Straße
- Uraalt Scholl Village Museum, Mützenich
- cellar of rock Brewery Museum, Monschau
- Roman glassworks, Monschau- Foundation
-Scheibler-Museum Red House, Monschau
- Historical Mustard Mill Monschau
- Eifeler Photografica & Film Museum, Monschau
- Monschau Classical Music
- Happy Halloween, Halali and Christmas Market
