The tour starts in Brione Verzasca and ends in Sonogno. Both villages are reachable by car or bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno route). From Brione, the path to Daghéi follows the stream on an asphalt road: the stream harbours countless pools of luminous green water – perfect for taking a dip. A lovely path from Daghéi ascends the ever wilder-looking Val d'Osura through the larch forest to the Capanna Osola (May-October). We recommend families to stay overnight here and return to Brione on the same route.
The next section of path is steep, and although waymarked, it's not as well maintained as further down. It's also stony all the way to the Rifugio Sambuco (May-October) – the night's accommodation. The next leg consists of a steep ascent to Bocchetta di Mügaia, with the possibility of climbing the Monte Zucchero (about 20 minutes), after which comes the long descent. The landscape is very alpine with virtually no vegetation. Püscen Negro offers a chance to catch fantastic panoramic views of the Val Redòrta.
