The monument to the plane crashes was erected in Kivisalmi in 2015 to commemorate two Finnish bombers who fell in the Winter and Continuation Wars between Finland and Russian. During the Winter War of 1939, the BL-110 bomber got lost in a snowstorm and was destroyed after colliding with a cliff in Hämeenniemi, South Konnevesi. Three Finnish soldiers died. During the Continuation War in 1941, the DB-14 bomber fell into a downward spiral during a test flight and fell into South Konnevesi between Lokkisaari and Honkasaari. Both the pilot and the observer died.

The route can be challenging in strong north winds.
A canoe is more difficult to control in the wind than a kayak because it has more wind surface, so a kayak is clearly a better option in open water.
The route requires basic kayaking and map reading skills. In windy weather, the route is challenging and it is not always possible to paddle all the way to round. The weather may change quickly, so it is necessary to follow the weather forecasts.
