The 3 km long round tour invites you to take a stroll through the recreation area of Zweibrücken. Numerous sights make the trail an excellent walking experience.
The area of the so-called pheasantry was used centuries ago by the dukes of Zweibrücken as an excursion destination, health resort and recreation area. A mysterious castle ruin from the Middle Ages, a baroque garden monument, a pheasant wall surrounding the forest area with ancient giant trees and a wild rose garden are the main historical attractions on the only three-kilometre long round tour. The romantic hotel "Landschloss Fasanerie" - which has a children's playground and some Kneipp water cure facilities - offers a gorgeous place to have a rest on the sun terrace of the South Tyrolean country house in a stylish ambience. You can sunbathe on the sun lounger in the neighbouring Wild Rose Garden surrounded by roses. The forest path leads through the old trees to the foot of the pheasantry grounds. The Horster family runs the "Alter Bahnhof" brasserie ("old station" brasserie) in a historic listed building.
A 300-year-old boundary stone can be found on the way!
Leave the A8 motorway at exit no. 32 to get to the city centre of Zweibrücken. At the roundabout take the exit onto the B424 highway and follow the signs for the city centre. The Alte Ixheimer Strasse goes over Gottlieb-Daimler-Brücke and then merges with Landauer Strasse. In Landauer Strasse get into the right turning lane for Fasanerie and follow the L471 until you reach the traffic lights. There you turn right, cross the level crossing and continue straight ahead on the main road into Fasaneriestrasse. Directly on the left-hand side, you will find the Tschifflick woodland car park. Follow the road leading uphill and you will find the parking lot at the romantic hotel Landschloss Fasanerie on your left.
The Fasanerie woodland car park has free parking spaces. It is located directly opposite the medieval castle ruins and the "Alter Bahnhof" brasserie at the intersection of Annweilerstrasse and Fasaneriestrasse. Located above the romantic hotel Landschloss Fasanerie in Fasaneriestrasse 1, there is more free parking available.
