An undulating coastal walk from the village of Marloes to the seaside resort of Broad Haven.
The village of Marloes has a gorgeous white sands beach which you leave behind you to venture north towards Broad Haven. If the sun shines upon you you will come across many viewpoints and bays to entice you to sit and admire the coast ahead. The coast curves ahead with the cliff edges dropping away from you as you go. The waves below and the sound that comes with them is a great partner on the Pembrokeshire Coastal walk.
There are a couple I would offer to this stunning coastal walk. St Brides, is a small fishing village nestled in a cove, with a church and small beach. Perfect for a biscuit and tea break.
There is a small bench at the cliff edge not long before you come into Little Haven. This provides you a place to rest you feet and enjoy the path you have just visited. Again, it's a biscuit and tea stop prior to finishing your walk at Broad Haven.
You may cross small streams and beach areas as you pass through the coves. Please take care and consider the weather conditions before you set out. Again, please take care at the cliff edges and ensure that you stay well back from the edge during high winds, or thick fog. Mist and fog can be a common feature early in the morning.
Although the weather will very much dictate what you take and wear. I would suggest the following:
Although the ascents and decents are not very marked, it can be muddy underfoot during wet weather so it can be very slippy. You may also come across very occasional steep rocky ground. Please stay well back from loose ground near cliff edges.
This is a coastal path with little shelter so the top five suggestions for equipment would be:
Keep a look out for the Acorn waymarking that will keep you on track. Although ensure that you monitor your route notes as you go.
Take a moment at St Brides Bay and enjoy this little village with accompanying church. I would also stop at Little Haven, just south of Broad Haven. It's small village with numerous pubs that are defintely worth taking note of and resting your feet in. After Little Haven there is a small hill to contend with so you are allowed to enjoy a moment in this idylic spot.
The Lobster Pot has lunch and dinner options in Marloes. If the Griffin is closed then you are able to take a short taxi ride for evening meals here. You will pass The Lobster Pot on your way into Marloes as part of your walk. Check ahead for opening times.
The Clock Tower is a cafe in Marloes if you wish teas, coffee and snacks. Again, please check for opening times.
There is a local village shop in Marloes if you wish to buy small items for your walk. If you want a packed lunch then please ask at your bed and breakfast as they might be able to provide this for your walk.
There are several good pubs to eat in Little Haven. The Swan, St Brides Inn, The Castle or the The Ocean Cafe Restaurant and Bar in Broad Haven. A great selection of good food. Please check for opening times.
You can find various locals shops Broad Haven which will help you with packed lunches if you don't wish to ask at your accommodation.
