The first stage of the trek through Little Beskids in Polish Silesia. From the village Kozy over the peaks Hrobacza Łąka, Groniczek, Gaiky, the saddle Przegibek, through meadows and forests to Magurka Wilkowicka.
Starting point is train station Kozy on the Carpathian train line, which runs through the foothills of Little Beskydy. We follow the path marked with the cross symbol on the hill. It belongs to the papal trail network. It takes a while to get through the village to the former quarry with a pond. Behind the quarry, the trail climbs steeply, mostly through the beech-hornbeam forest, to Hrobacza Łąka peak. With a hiking backpack you will be pretty sweaty. On the top there is a wooden plateau under the steel construction of the Cross of the III. Millennium. From here we hike along the ridge over the saddle "U Panienki", the Groniczek and Gaiki peaks to the next saddle "Przegibek". The place is a salvation for the thirsty. There is only one refreshment option on the entire route, the Gawra buffet. On this hot summer day, we did not meet anybody in the forest or on the meadows. From the saddle we climb to Magurka Wilkowiczka and to the hut. The path is wide and offers beautiful views of the countryside and the city of Bielsko-Biała in the evening light.
It is necessary to arrive in time in the hut, a dinner will be cooked for you and after 8 PM the pub, which has been waiting just for you, closes.
Equip yourself with enough water/drinks. Between Kozy and the saddle Przegibek there is no well and no refreshment.
Standard equipment for a six-day stage hike
It is the first stage of a six-day trek - we recommend train transport to the starting point, Kozy train station. After an overnight stay in the PTTK mountain hut “na Magurce” you will continue on foot.
