The route to Ryten summit through one of Lofoten’s most stunning beaches provide unforgettable experience and amazing views of endless ocean surrounded by mountains.
Hike to Ryten viewpoint has all the greatest and gorgeous things that Lofoten Islands has to offer: wide panoramas across the mountains and fjords, mighty open ocean and white sandy beach. This hike is truly stunning and definitely a must-do if you visit this region.
It is a fairly easy hike comparing to Lofoten standards hikes. Route to the mountain top is just a little bit strenuous but breathtaking views all around helps you to forget about tiredness. During the whole way views keep changing which makes trip more interesting. Also, it is one of the few hikes in Lofoten that is not too much steep. However, the main aim to do this hike is final view from the top of Ryten.
This hiking trail is going via Ryten summit and Kvalvika beach whish is an incomparable combo that you cannot miss if you are visiting Lofoten islands. Kvalvika beach is amazing isolated beach that faces the open ocean and is surrounded by mountains from every side. Ryten is a massive mountain on the right side of the beach that is raised over 540 m above the sea and provide incredible panoramic view.
This hiking is better to combine with camping as it gives additional opportunity to spend more time enjoying magical location. There are a lot of spots to pitch a tent on the flat grassy area behind the beach. Also, there are several flat areas on the summit suitable for a tent.
First part of the hiking is from the parking area to the Kvalvika Beach. The second one is from the beach to the Ryten mountain peak.
At various points during the whole route there are special signs pointing to the right direction.

From any location on Lofoten take the E10 road towards Fredvang village. After crossing two bridges just turn into Fredvang, park your car and then continue by foot. In the parking area you will find sign pointing to the main entrance to the trail.
Just before entering Fredvang village you can find big public parking area near the old school.
Also, if you will go along the road through the village around 3 km, you can find a parking on the left near the water.
