On this hiking route you will enjoy the beautiful forest paths, amazing views, nice rest stops and the special atmosphere of the Huutavanholma nature reserve.
On Tahkonmäen kierros hiking route you walk up to Tahko hill along the forest paths. Once you reach the top, you see that the scenery is worth trekking up. Forests and lakes as far as the eye can see!
The route runs on top of the slalom slopes at a height of 296 meters above sea level, before it takes you back into the forest. A lovely but partly rocky path takes you down to the Huutavanholma nature reserve. Here you will find quite a unique atmosphere. You walk in an enchanting forest and below you, a stream runs rushing through the area. There are some steep and rocky spots along the route. The flora of Huutavanholma is special and the area is protected.
Later on the route you come across Nipasen kota rest stop, a big barbecue hut on top of an old slalom slope. Again you get to admire amazing views, too. It is also possible to take a break in the dim atmosphere of the Taukotupa hut.
If you want to make the route shorter, turn to Tahko center from Huutavanholma: follow the green markings and Huutavanholman kierros signposts.
The rocky paths may be slippery on a damp weather.
The path is partly difficult to walk because of the steep hills. There are no stairs. Be careful at the steep parts of the path.
When the forest fire warning is in effect, fires are not allowed outside.
There are services along the route but please check the opening hours before leaving, and if needed bring your own snacks and drinks. You should always take least a water bottle with you.
Although the trail is marked in the terrain, it is good to take a map of the area with you.

It is good to have sturdy boots, and in wet weather waterproof shoes. Always dress according to the weather.
Tahko is easy to reach by car, and there are signposts leading to Tahko, whether you arrive from the South or from the North.
