This anticlockwise trail leads you through the old wilderness forest, where you can admire almost 200-year-old spruce trees, numerous species of ferns and rare polypores that testify to biodiversity. In June, white wood sorrels and blue wood violets blossom along the path.
The trail starts at the yard of Konttila farm, which is originally a tenants farm functioning today as a heritage farm. The farm is an example of a typical finnish family farm and farming area. The main building was built in 1770. There is cafe and small exhibition of nature of Puijo area in the Konttila Farm.
Only 1 km from Konttila farm, you will find the Puijo observation tower, Kuopio's distinctive landmark. The Puijo Tower offers a fabulous view over the city and the lakes and forrests surrounding it.
There is a nice cafe and a souvenir shop in the Puijo Tower.
In the Konttila Farm, there is a small cafeteria and exhibition of the nature of Puijo.
There are animals in the Konttila farm that cannot be approached or fed without the permission of the owner. Dogs must be kept on a leash.
In dry weather, the trail can be walked in sneakers. In wet weather it is good to wear waterproof shoes. Dress accoding to the weather.

The best way to get to the Konttilan kierto -trail by car is from Antikkalantie, which leads to Konttila-farm. There is a sign to Konttila from Puijontie, where Antikkalantie turns to Konttila. The car park is located at Antikkalantie 58 and it is within walking distance of the route to Konttila, about 700 meters away.
You can also start the route from Puijo Tower (Puijontie 135), which also has parking lots.
