This walking trail will not only offer you the chance to visit the fascinating Moléson cheese-dairy, but is also the ideal opportunity to take in the pure, fresh mountain air, while marvelling at the cows grazing in the lush green pastures of La Gruyère and the authentic alpine cabins with their traditional wood-shingle (tavillon) roofs.
Opposite the Gruyères-Pringy train station is «la Maison du Gruyère», where you can stop off and see how the renowned Gruyère AOC cheese is made. After your visit, head towards la Pinte des Vernes. From there, follow the path which takes you into the woods. From there you can choose between two routes. The route through Les Reybes is slightly steeper than that of la Provêta (Alternative A).
After walking for two hours (level of difficulty: moderate), you will arrive at the Moléson cheese-dairy, where you can request your well-deserved souvenir certificate, the «diplôme du sentier des fromageries», and watch cheese being made in the traditional way - over open wood fires. This 17th century alpine cheese-dairy is open every day from mid-May to the end of September.
