On your final stage, set off to the turquoise alpine lake of Obernberger See, steadily ascending to the Sandjoch pass which marks the border of Austria and Italy. Here, on a clear day, you are rewarded with a view of the Dolomites far off in the distance. The path leisurely winds its way down into the South Tyrolean village of Gossensaß.
From there the train will take you to Sterzing, with its beautiful old town and South Tyrolean Dolce Vita flair.
