Turn-by-turn directions
The bus stop in Obereichigt is the starting point for the hike along the ridge trail into the Burgstein area. After crossing the road, you can once again enjoy the free view, then continue hiking into the forest before Tiefenbrunn. In the sparsely populated area on the former German-German border, a unique fauna and flora was able to develop during the years of German division. After the opening of the border, this area was classified as a "Green Belt" protected area. Tiefenbrunn is located not far from the border triangle of Saxony, Bavaria and Bohemia. On the ridge trail you hike around the village, enjoying the view to Bohemia and Bavaria. An old hollow way leads you near the White Stone. Here you will have the opportunity to take a rest before climbing the Platzerberg. The European long-distance hiking trail E3 passes through this area coming from the border triangle and crosses the Kammweg shortly after Tiefenbrunn. Up to Platzerberg, the trail surface changes from asphalt to paved and later to overgrown forest path to the gently rising "summit". From there, hike to the hamlet of Haselrain and continue toward Bobenneukirchen, mostly in spruce forest, sometimes interrupted by meadows and clearings. When the forest opens up, you will soon see the first houses of Bobenneukirchen. Passing the bath you come to the center of the village with the dam Dröda as an attraction. The Kammweg leads you directly along the dam to Engelhardtsgrün. Until then, you will pass the Bobenneukirchen pre-dam and experience a fantastic view of the western Vogtland after a hike along the edge of the forest. Arriving straight in the village center of Engelhardtsgrün, a rest area awaits you to catch your breath. Then it goes slightly downhill to the Ramoldsreuth reservoir. The village of the same name, which had to give way during the construction of the Dröda dam, is today commemorated by an information board not far from the B173 federal road. The ridge trail now zigzags uphill mostly along the edge of the forest on natural ground. Enjoying the panoramic views, you hike through the floodplain landscape along the Weißigbach near the A72. The noise of the highway fades away, and with every meter the view becomes more magnificent until you arrive at the Schwarzenreuth estate. Up and down you go over the "Vordere Platte". To the left and right of the path are magnificent views before the path leads down to the hiker's parking lot at the castle stone ruins. This is the stage destination. Tip: As a small view for the following stage, we recommend a detour to the Burgstein ruins 100 meters away.
