The Ring path of Perdonanze
Consorzio Pro Loco delle Prealpi
Continuing along the path we will remain on the subject by encountering one of the numerous Austro-Hungarian trenches (Perdonanzestellung) built during the year of the invasion in 1917, when all the hills were a sort of active front from which the Italian front line could be controlled beyond beyond the Piave (Montello area). Educational panels will tell us the history of the place.

Turn-by-turn directions
Leaving the villa, go towards the Bishop's Castle “Fortifications of Ceneda - I Palazi” along Via Brevia, then turning into Via S. Rocco leaving the road that leads to the Castle which could always be visited with a detour of 5 minutes. At the end of the first climb we leave the road that climbs towards the hill of S. Paolo (with via Crucis) and go up to the left up to the hill of S. Rocco with the homonymous little church and a splendid view of the entire historic center, the hills of the east side and the Cansiglio. From here we go down the suggestive staircase that takes us to Borgo San Fris. We get off on the main road and we follow right towards the hills. After a hundred meters we will find the indication on the left for the church of the Madonna di Loreto, Perdonanze.
We will take it and start the Cai path 1042. We will follow the path first along the course of the stream then steeply uphill crossing the motorway. The environment is wild with a typical thermophilic forest and an environment of sedimentary rocks such as the obvious sandstones and conglomerates that characterize the whole area of the Vittorio Veneto hills. We avoid all the deviations on the left that indicate Montebello or Bigontina ridge and arrive at a little chapel and to "Case Botteon", an hamlet with a mountain atmosphere. Here we find a crossroads: the road that goes down to the left we will take it later to return to Vittorio Veneto but now we follow along the main path and find after a few meters a crossroads which, if desired, allows us to continue our excursion towards S. Lorenzo - Monte Baldo (always path 1042). Instead, we will continue along the main road reaching the church of the Madonna di Loreto, the highest point of our itinerary.
From here the road continues towards Tarzo. We then return to Borgo Botteon and follow the partly unpaved and partly paved road downhill to the area of the Trenches. We continue for about 300 m on a dirt road. Exactly at the point where the asphalt begins we can take a steep path that descends to the left and therefore avoid continuing on asphalt. A little further on we also find the excellent Osteria delle Perdonanze. We follow the downhill path along Via Montebello until we come to the side of a sheep pen, cross the highway and return to the Strada delle Perdonanze. We then come out in Via Gallina and arrive at a chapel dedicated to the Celeste Regina del Rosario and from here we will quickly return to the Piazza del Duomo in Ceneda.
