Val Lapisina carries with it the signs of the Paleopiave glacier which, for a few millennium, remained isolated with a tongue of ice hundreds of meters thick.

The path starts in Borgo Savassa and touches two of the three lakes of Val Lapisina. The first of these is Lago di Negrisiola, an artificial basin rich in aquatic fauna, located near the exit of the A27 motorway.

Continuing on you will arrive at the Lago del Restello, an artificial body of water, characterized by the surrounding structures that include the viaduct of the A27 motorway, the little church of San Floriano and the tower of the same name. The latter dates back to Roman times and was used in the past to control the passages towards Cadore and from there to Tyrol and Germany. The name of the lake is inspired by the phrase "restelli di sanità", barriers established by the Republic of Venice to prevent the spread of epidemics by controlling traffic. Once you have finished observing these structures, you can resume the path thus returning to the starting point.

Destination

Borgo Savassa Bassa

Turn-by-turn directions

From Borgo Savassa Bassa you reach the Laghetto di Negrisiola and after passing a small bridge, turn left and follow the road that runs along the bank, heading north. When you reach the "Il Bosco" farmhouse, the road becomes a path and comes out near the Enel plant, in the locality of Rinforzo.

We turn left along the SS 51 Alemagna for about a hundred meters. Then we take the Via delle Sorgenti on the right. After the inhabitated hamlet, a track climbs the escarpment passing under the pylons of the motorway flyover and reaches lake Restello (or Lago of San Floriano), after the hamlet of houses it is possible to overcome the bar and make a small detour to reach a roman's ancient tower lookout, built between the 15th and the 8th century BC.

Retracing our steps, we cross the dam bridge and follow Via del Restello uphill for 500 m. Arriving at the intersection with Via del Borgo Botteon, turn left towards the Nove's Enel power plant and continue along Via del Lagusel, up to the Borgo "Basso Nove". Here we turn left and passing the houses, go up the road, at the intersection we turn left and reach the equipped area of the Piana degli Alpini. From here, continue uphill on the cart track, being careful not to take the detour that goes to the left because it leads to the cistern of the hydroelectric power plant, up to the meadows of Croda Rossa, from which you can admire the whole Val Lapisina from above.

Arriving at the asphalted road, you can decide to take a detour to reach Borgo Croda Rossa (650 m away), now abandoned, and then descend along Via Crodarossa and Via Tragol de Rova, until you reach the inhabitated of Forcal. From here, always following the asphalted road, you can make a detour to Savassa Alta to reach the source of the Meschio River, and following Via Forcal downhill you return to the starting point.
