This hike will make you discover some significant places in the Cansiglio Forest, known as the "Bosco da Reme" (literally Oars Wood) because of the long beech tree trunks from which the oars for the galleys of the Republic of Venice were made. The ring-route does not present any particular difficulty and takes place mainly on dirt roads surrounded by the silence of the Forest, which is interrupted only by the sound of the many species of animals that you will surely encounter.
Rifugio Sant'Osvaldo - Giardino Botanico - Valmenera - Pian Osteria - Rifugio Sant'Osvaldo
Along this route you will discover many interesting places that make the Piana del Cansiglio a unique habitat where Cimbrian culture and care for nature live side by side. Testimonies of Cimbrian culture are still visible today in the names of families and local toponyms such as Mount Pizzoch (from Spitz Hoch, 'high peak'). Among the points of interest not to be missed are the Cimbrian Ethnographic Museum (MUC) and the characteristic houses of the Cimbrian Villages along the route.
