981/A "Terra Nera" Path

Locality of Sonego, Fregona

Leave the car near the hamlet of Sonego, a small but characteristic urban centre in the far north of the town of Fregona, continue northward on a steep climb (Via Cal De Casal) initially on a paved road and then on a narrow carriage cobbled/cemented road until you pass a votive capital and reach the dirt open space above the “weir” on the Carron stream. After the hairpin bend, continue to the northeast for a few tens of meters until you take, on the left, just after the cement tank of the municipal aqueduct, the Terra Nera path (981a) which climbs, always in the same direction, and after about an hour and a half of walking you come to cross the concrete road "Del Santo" which from Sonego leads to Cadolten. Going down on it, keeping to the right at the only crossroads you find (700 meters above sea level), you return to the starting point, giving yourself an almost obligatory stop to admire the landscape in the open space in front of the shrine of S. Antonio da Padova, place and point of reference for the inhabitants of the below Pedemontana and known simply as “the Saint”. It is possible to reach the pleasant locality of Cadolten not only going down, but also by climbing the cement crossroad. Once you reach the Cadolten plain, keeping the capital of S. Floriano on the left, which marks its beginning, cross it completely going up to the Forestry House and from here, taking the carriage road on the right, you reach Malga Coro. Going back along the road you have already taken, you return to the "del Santo" forest road, you pass in front of the starting point of the Terra Nera path and, continuing to go down, you return to Sonego.
