“Javn” means “even” in Norwegian, and it’s a fitting description of the ascent to Javneberget. The forest trail taking you to the top is easy-going and perfect for a family outing. Although Javneberget is modest compared to other peaks in the area, the mountain awards expansive views of Beitostølen and the north of Valdres.
The trail runs partly through marshlands, so be sure to wear waterproof footwear.

From Fagernes, follow the signs to Road 51 towards Vågå/Beitostølen. Drive on Road 51 for about 31 kilometers until you reach Skammerstein.
Take Vinstervegen to the right. Continue past the toll gate (the fee is about NOK 50) for about 300-400 meters until you reach some containers on the left-hand side of the road. Here you can park your car.
BusSkammestein. Take Vinstervegen to the right, and walk some 300-400 meters until you reach the parking for Javneberget by the containers.
