In Lavertezzo, cross the Ponte dei Salti, a Roman bridge that spans the shimmering green Verzasca, and head towards Brione Verzasca further up the valley on the path. You soon come across a picnic spot complete with a chalet. That's followed by the Cascata di Orgnana waterfall a little further upstream.
At Ganne (starting point of the "Sentiero per l'arte", an art trail featuring more than 15 works by international artists), cross the river by the bridge and ascend the steps before descending slightly to Brione Verzasca. It's possible to swim in the river, but care is advised.
Brione Verzasca is popular with the bouldering fraternity for its granite boulders. This is where you can catch the bus (Locarno-Tenero-Sonogno). The walk, with restaurants in Lavertezzo and Brione Verzasca, can be completed in either direction.
Tip: anyone completing the walk in a down-valley direction, i.e. Brione Verzasca to Lavertezzo, can try out the "Boccia al bosco", a marble run fashioned out of wood.
