The hiking route up to the summit of Hoven is truly enjoyable. From there scenery of surrounding ocean and landscape is really impressive! During clear days across the sea you can see Vestvågøya to the south, Austvågøya to the northeast and you can catch Vesterålen of continental Norway.
Hoven is one of the easiest mountain hikes on the Lofoten Islands because of gentle rate of rise along the main track. The height of the peak is only 368 m. That is why the summit is typically below the clouds and everything stays visible.
This hike is short and there are no special difficulties. Interesting fact is that the trailhead is positioned right beside one of the world's most northern golf courses “Lofoten Links”.
The route is located on the boggy flats of northwestern Gimsøya island which is positioned between Vestvågøya and Austvågøya islands. This island is very flat and full of wetland zones but the shoreline is gorgeous with snow-white sand beaches. Hoven that is standing along of this landscape looks like a key figure and certainly attracts attention.
