Route from James Kaiser's "Acadia: The Complete Guide" (I highly recommend the book for its coverage of the Acadia area and beautiful photos.)
Ascents of Parkman Peak, Gilmore Peak, and Sargent Mountain. Walk through forests, over creeks and across lichen-covered rocks. Beautiful summit views!

This beautiful trail doesn't disappoint. The views of the lakes and bays are spectacular and improve as you move from Parkman Peak to Gilmore Peak to Sargent Mountain.
The route is less traveled than most in the park. On an early September day, we only saw fewer than 10 people, and most of those were on the lower sections of the trail.
We found the footing quite challenging with many trails composed of medium to large-sized rocks or covered in significant tree roots. We felt that we had to carefully watch our steps for most of the route.
