Dragon's Back is the sister trail to Dragon's Tooth. This spiny ridge trail is very technical and often requires some hiking with your bike, but the rewards are well worth your effort. It is an 11-mile single-track loop with technical climbs and descents. Did we mention it is rocky?

Dragon's Back is the sister trail to Dragon's Tooth. This spiny ridge trail is very technical and often requires some hiking with your bike, but the rewards are well worth your effort. It is an 11-mile single-track loop with technical climbs and descents. Did we mention it is rocky?
Directions:
Take Rt. 311 North from Roanoke/Salem (off exit 141 of I81) for about 13 miles
Follow up over large mountain (A.T. crosses at top – leads to McAfee Knob)
Continue on Rt. 311 and you will pass a gas station on your left, then Dragon’s Tooth trailhead on your left.
After a long straight away look for a right turn onto FS Road 224 (Wildlife Road)
Follow for a mile or so to Deer Trail on right – begin ride here
Trail Description:
From Deer Trail ride continue on the Forest Service road until you reach Turkey Trail on your right
Head up Turkey trail to the ridge
Turn right on North Mountain trail and ride to Deer Trail
Turn left and head down Deer Trail to car
