Yarningale Common-Kite Green v1

Start off along a lovely country lane at Yarningale common. Cross the canal at Bucket lock, near to Yarningale acqueduct. This is unusual because the towpath is at the level of the canal bottom. The lock takes only one narrowboat at a time.

Cross winding streams. Marshy when wet. Can be muddy where paths meet and at kissing gates but plenty of other paths for detours.

There is a lovely church near Preston Bagot on a hill with good views.You can take shelter in the porch. There are seats.

I saw the Warwickshire Hunt in this area once.

The last part of the walk follows a peaceful stream meandering along. Wonderful. Cross the canal again at Lock 35 for a steep short climb  followed by a short stretch of woodland.

Take the A4189 Henley road from Warwick. After 5.5 miles, at the crossroads in Claverdon, turn right (signposted Shrewley) into Lye Green Road. At the first crossroads turn left into Common Lane (signposted Yarningale Common). Park at the common.
