From Tilshead take the road to Chittern. At the top of the hill there are large concrete parking areas for tanks on both sides of the road. Park on the right - NOT the one with the water tower in it.
Cross the road to the Water Tower car park and follow the trail past a Long Barrow to the "German Village" which is used to practice urban warfare and more properly known as Cophill Down OBUA (Operations in a Built Up Area). Circling around the Down takes us back to the cars. Variations on the route taken are numerous. Howevver, some are badly churned up by off-road vehicles and should be avoided.
All this are is a "Dry Firing Range" which means that live ammunition is not used. However, stay on the tracks and don't pick up anything - just in case!
Under some circumstances the area is closed to the public.
