Starting at the car park at the foot of the neolithic causewayed enclosure at Knap Hill, the path follows west along the Wansdyke upon the ridge of the downs overlooking the vale of Pewsey.
Archaeological sites are plenty along the way including Adam's Grave long barrow, the Alton Barnes white horse, Oldbury camp, Windmill hill , Avebury and the Sanctuary.
Footpaths amongst others include the famous Ridgeway and Green Street/Herepath.
