Created on our behalf by www.skyestrolls.co.uk
Leave reception and go to road junction, where you turn right along the road until passing Froe. After passing the house and reaching a wood on your right, enter the wood through a gap in the wall and take the right fork and go over the footbridge. Stay on this path through woods and fields, ignore the two paths that go to your left towards Bohortha.
After some distance you will reach the Place – St Mawes Ferry, after disembarking turn left along the coastal road until reaching the castle. Enjoy the views and atmosphere, then continue down to the lower car park and along road.
At the end of the road go through the gate into open countryside and along the coastal path. Stay on this path through fields, there are a number of opportunities to go through to rock pools and secluded beaches. On reaching St Just go onto the road then along the quay for a short distance, prior to climbing steps then onto the world renowned church.
It is worth spending time viewing the church and yard, also having a cream tea at Miss V’s near the car park. After this you have the option of returning by the same route or continuing.
Take the path out of the lower section of the church yard adjacent to the estuary. Ensure you find the Holy Well as you leave the church grounds. After a short distance the path forks, take the right hand fork. Go through fields following the foot/bridle path signs until reaching a small lane. Follow this to the road, where you turn left and follow the road. Pass the first footpath on your right, at the side of the last house, but take the next one through a gap in the wall on your right.
Go along the field with the hedge on your right, at the corner of the field go through the gates and along the edge of the next field, where hedge is on your left. Continue to the next corner and over the stile then along the field until reaching the road at Trethem.
At the road turn right, passing through the small hamlet and the caravan site until reaching the main St Mawes road. Here turn left and on to the footpath on your right just over the bridge. Climb away from the road and into fields. Cross the first field, over the stile then diagonally right across the next field to a gate leading into a small wooded area. Continue on this path through another two fields until reaching the road. Enjoy the opening coastal views towards Gerrans Bay and Nare Head.
On reaching the road turn right, stay on the road until reaching a staggered junction where you turn left and right, towards Porthscatho. Take the footpath on your left, just prior to the car park and then right when reaching the coastal path. Continue along the path until reaching the road, which you follow to its end at a T junction and turn left to the end of the village where you pass between houses onto the coastal path. It is worth taking a detour into the village to enjoy its delightful shops, galleries, pubs, restaurants and atmosphere.
Continue along the coastal path ensuring you keep looking at the views behind across Gerrans Bay. The area surrounding this first section of path is a mass of wild flowers in spring and summer. On reaching Towan Beach take the deeply cut and signed path to the right, go through the buildings and cross the road.
Cross the main road and pass the car park where a small path can be seen that parallels the road. Just after the footbridge go over the wall and left at the road. Follow the road uphill back to Trewince Holiday Lodges.
