Steep track up from the primary school through a re-planted forest. Great views from the end of the track.

From Strachur Smiddy walk up a few yards then take the road on the right onto the main A815. Turn left and walk up the main road till you come to the junction by the speed limit signs, marked as the Cowal Way. Cross the road carefully and walk up and left to the village school.
Take the forest track opposite the school and walk up about 200 yds, to where the track seems to stop in a flat space where vehicles could turn.
From there you turn sharp right, almost back the way you came, onto a steeper and narrower track. It's not very obvious at first but becomes clearer after a few yards.
This steeper track turns to the left after another hundred yards or so and continues to the fence line at the top of the plantation.
There is a great view from here across the "strath" of Strachur, northwards across Loch Fyne to Ben Cruachan, and south-east towards Loch Eck. You can walk further up the hill, but it's the ususal tussocky and boggy Argyll hillside, and the views don't get much better.
The shoulder of hill above the track end is called "Meall Reamhar" which means something like "the fat hill", quite a good description of the shape. The hilltop further up is "Ann Carr", "the dark one".
