A long walk that can be broken into two sections – both full of interest – at Musselburgh, or walked end to end.
The coastal section, following part of the John Muir Way, is best saved for a good day, but once you are in Musselburgh the useful 26 bus can be used to cut short the walking and visit the final two pubs. All the pubs on the route have features of interest, and you can expect a good range of well-kept beers. Staggs in Musselburgh has been a finalist in CAMRA's National Pub of the Year competition, while the Prestoungrange Gothenburg is a beautiful and lovingly-restored Art Nouveau gem which is now once again brewing its own very good beers. So it's no surprise that this is one of my favorite pub walks
in the Edinburgh region
