This is a walk that starts in the pretty village of Swinbrook, which is built of Cotswold stone and nestles in the valley on the River Windrush. Walk from here towards the deserted medieval village of Widford.  The church of St Oswald stands on the site of the remains of a roman villa.
Walk up the pretty valley of Dean Bottom to a narrow county road with sweeping views across the countryside to the right.
After a short time, turn left to walk along undulating countryside, eventually coming to another country lane.  There is a trickling brook running under the road from a beautiful pond spied over a stone wall to the left.  Proceed up a lane that gently ascends alongside a woodland and then opens up to views again.  Turn right to walk along a byway and then lane that leads you back down into the valley.  Go over a stone stile into fields on the right back towards Swinbrook, and conveniently come out back into the village just in front of the pub for well earnt refreshment!
We took our dog, who enjoyed the walk, but beware that there are a couple of high stone styles at the end of the walk.
