Park in National Trust Stourhead car park. Toilets and cafe at entrance. Route goes into the park beside the lake then out heading north up a lovely valley past St. Peter’s pump. At the top turn right and walk back down a wide avenue with very old beech trees, fabulous in the autumn. Past a gatehouse and obelisk with a golden sun at the top and approach Stourhead house from the rear. Vere to the left of the building to avoid a high Ha-ha. As you enter the grounds just before the house entrance up steps, is another toilet and an exhibition room. Continue to car park through kitchen gardens.
