The Old Mineral Line was the West Somerset Mineral Railway that transported iron ore mined in the Brendon Hills to Watchet where it was taken by boat to South Wales where it was smelted.
The Coleridge Way is a long distance route that starts in the Quantocks follows this section of the old mineral line from Sticklepath to Roadwater.
There is not a lot of evidence of the railway but it is a very pretty trail bound by overgrown beech trees, some heath and woodland.
From Roadwater you climb up over a hill in Nettlecombe parish and have the choice of going directly back to Chidgley and Sticklepath (making the walk 4 miles) or via Nettlecombe Court which makes the walk 5 miles in total.
Either way the views over the Brendons and the West Somerset coastline are gorgeous.
