Staffs, Cannock Chase, Pepper Slade

Turn off Penkridge Bank Road at Rifle Range Corner and drive slowly down the potholed road to the car park near the Cadet Hut. Head south from the car park down Pepper Slade and cross a small ford (stepping stones for walkers).

The ramble can now be taken either clockwise or the other way. To go clockwise, continue in the same direction and go up the hill opposite. Turn right at the top and pass the Glacial Bolder.

Continue along the old railway line before bearing off sharp right at a point where 7 tracks meet onto the track leading to the Sherbrook Valley.

'Stepping Stones' ford makes a good place for lunch. The ford here does not need to be crossed.  Continue up Sherbrook Valley until the ford leading back up Pepper Slade is reached.
