Snowdon, Pyg Track

Three Peaks Challenge
Snowdon is the busiest mountain in Britain – possibly the world – with 10 recognised routes and a train line leading to its summit, which is crowned by a modern visitor centre. The Pyg Track is the shortest route up with stunning views but covers steep, rocky terrain, so care must be taken.

Starting from an altitude of 359 metres at the Pen-y-Pass car park, Snowdon's Pyg Track is a favourite for every type of mountain lover from walkers and climbers to trail runners and families.
This is an exciting, rocky trail that twists and turns alongside the stunning mountain lakes of Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn, and runs beneath the fearsome ridgeline of Crib Goch that ripples along the skyline above.
This is the quickest and shortest route to Snowdon's summit, but the views will take your breath away. The sheer walls of Snowdon's east face and neighbouring Y Lliwedd provide awesome surroundings, and the track has a pleasingly rugged feel.
Care needs to be take at all times because in poor visibility (a common enemy on Snowdon) it's easy to lose your way and end up on one of the mountain's many tougher routes; but on a fine day there are few more rewarding hillwalks in Britain.
