From Saltersgate (hole of Horcum) on the old wifes path. You can pass through the bridestones or go down the side of them. Steep path down from the moor to Lake but well maintained. Several stiles to cross once in forestry. One road to walk on for around quarter of a mile. Grass at side is level.
Moorland at the start. Once in Dalby valley, grassland or gravel tracks.
You can get refreshment in Dalby but would need to walk down to visitor centre. also refreshments as cosy teacup in Ellerburn and at the end of walk in thornton Dale
