A fantastic section and fine example of Cornwall walking, discover coves freshwater lagoons and classic cliff-top walking from Porthleven to Lizard.
Todays walk begins with a walk along a stretch of beach to the wonderful Loe Bar where Loe Pool sits (Cornwall’s largest freshwater lake).
Birdwatching is very common on the lake so if you wish take a stroll down and see what you can spot. The path continues along cliff edges and down to the fishing village of Mullion Cove. The next few miles to Lizard point can be challenging and boggy underfoot, but worth it as you pass some of the best coastal walking in South Cornwall.
There are several different route options into the town of Lizard, either before or after reaching Lizard Point. Consult your guidebook and your accommodation directions for the best option to your overnight.
Some walkers find this section difficult, especially in hot weather - there is also a lack of signage so keep a close eye on the route on the Macs App. If you wish to shorten the walk at any point today you can give Lizard Taxi a call on 07813 913980,
It should be said that the South West Coast Path is made up of largely coastal and cliffside walking and is not suitable for anyone suffering from vertigo or fear of heights. Take your time and great care when walking along the smaller cliff-side edged paths and be extra vigilant when walking in the rain or strong winds. Since the weather often changes rapidly in these areas, it can be difficult to predict so always check the weather ahead of time and be prepared.
At some sections on the trail you may have to pass other walkers on these cliffside paths - take your time, take great care and attention and pass safely.
