Description
Discover the beauty and tranquility of the South Downs National Park within easy reach of Newhaven and Seaford. This is a flat, surfaced, easy to follow route, through the Ouse Estuary Reserve. The route starts from Tide Mills Car Park, or bus route 12, Tide Mills bus stop.
This is a great site for bird lovers all year round. You could see Purple sandpipers, heron, goldfinch and more depending on the time of year. If you are taking the bus, you can get a return bus from the same place you started, or walk into Newhaven and get a bus from the town centre after a visit to a coffee shop.
Throughout spring and summer the wildflower areas are buzzing with life, bumblebees, butterflies and many other invertebrates visit here. There is a bird hide in the centre of the site for those who would like to take some time to watch the birds flying around the reserve. This part of the path is a dead end, so you have to loop back the way you came, before continuing the rest of the route.

Take the Lead
For a safe and fun visit with your dog please remember to keep them on a lead around livestock and wildlife. Always bag and bin your dog poo - any bin will do!
