A Discovering Britain walk exploring the spectacular Sennybridge mountain plateau

Mynydd Epynt in mid-Wales is an ancient mountain plateau - and a modern military training area. Sheep roam freely on artillery ranges while red kites soar above troops on exercises. The sound of the wind is punctuated by booming mortars.

A change in legislation has encouraged the MoD to grant greater public access to its land. This walk explores the part of the Sennybridge Training Area.

You’ll be safe as you follow the Epynt Way footpath through a unique environment. Along the way, enjoy dramatic landscapes, spectacular views and surprising stories.

View and print off the route for free at Discovering Britain.

Safety notice
This walk takes place in an active military training area, so you might see or hear soldiers on exercises. Don’t be afraid of them, but neither
should you interrupt their training activities.

It is safe to walk in this part of the training area as live ammunition is
not used here but if you do see some military debris on the ground please DO NOT touch it, move it or take it away.

Up to date information about firing times is available online here.
