Start at the abbey or pub and walk uphill until you reach Howsham wood. The walk goes through the wood to Howsham where there is a grand house, until a few years ago this was a bording school.
Start the return to Kirkham Abbey along the west bank of the River Derwent then follow the route up the hill to the west eventually reaching the hamlet of Crambe. Follow the route through the trees to come out at the Abbey and the finish.
