A nice route from king alfreds tower down to stourhead and back up
moderate
Distance 9.1 km
Starting from King Alfreds tower which has free parking the route takes you along a wide grassy path parallel with the road so take care with off lead dogs. The route then heads down through a large field which may have livestock. This takes you into stourhead. There is a short bit of road walking in stourhead village. If the national trust part is open you may be able to use the facilities.
Once off the road the next field may have livestock in but you have lovely lakeside views. The route then heads along a track where you head downhill instead of through the obvious gate which is another route you can do, all the paths link up. The next field may have livestock also. Then you're back in the woods where if you'd prefer to extend or shorter the route there are many different paths.
