Joppa to The Shore, Leith, Edinburgh

This easy 3.9 mile walk starts at Portobello Promenade View at Joppa and heads along the sandy beach at low tide (or the promenade at high tide) with a few sea breaks to climb over. Walk along the beach for a couple of miles until you reach a curved wall where you climb a path back onto busy Seafield Road for a short stretch. At Seafield Street turn left and head up the road until you see the sign on the right for the footpath signposted for Leith Links and Ocean Terminal. Turn right onto the path which runs alongside Seafield Cemetary until you reach Leith Links where you turn right passing the allotments and bowling club to where the path meets Links Gardens.Turn right alongside the links, over Constitution Street, along Queen Charlotte Street to a T junction where you turn left along Tolbooth Wynd. Here you follow the road until you reach a bridge over the Water of Leith. Turn right here and you are on The Shore at the heart of Leith where there are many bars and cafes.
