More About the Walk
This is a lovely circular route from the Blue Bell pub in the centre of Ingleby Cross. It is a 5 mile trek along decent paths which actually form part of the famous Coast 2 Coast route. The first couple of miles involve a steady moderate climb up through woodland past the booster station. The second half of the walk takes you down hill along part of the Lyke Wake Walk and then there are a few tricky steep'ish parts through more woodland so it might be an idea to take hiking poles if you have trouble with knees etc or you are less confident. The views from the top are quite breath-taking and when you get back you can enjoy a drink with some of the best chips around like your granny used to do. None of this oven chip mallarky that some pubs offer. The pub has some lovely outdoor seating if the weather is nice. If you prefer to go inside then you can either enjoy the main part of the pub or if you are in a group you can ask to go in the little room on the righthand side where there are several tables so you can enjoy a more private group chat.
If you are in a group it is a good idea to give the landlord a call before the walk so that they know roughly how many portions of chips you might want and if you would like to sit in the room on the right.

Turn-by-turn directions
Head south from the Blue Bell pub and then cross the main road and head along the country road towards the hills right ahead of you. You'll start going uphill and past some houses on both sides and eventually you'll come to a T junction where you'll turn right.
Head along the until you start heading uphill again and eventually you'll come to a gate where you'll head left up a more narrow path which takes you up to the booster station. Go past that and keep walking straight ahead and you'll eventually be out on the moor. Head along and down a gentle slope. Keep an eye on the route on your phone as you will come to a hidden left turn which is not obvious. Take this path down to a style which you go over into a field and tthen turn left and head towards the woods again.
You'll come to another style which you go over and head along what I best can describe as like a sort of waste ground. Keep following the path and you'll get to where you zig zag a little down the hill into the woods. Keep heading down hill taking great care as you go as it is a little steep in parts.
You'll eventually come to a road/track where you'll bear left and keep walking until you come to another hidden turning, this time you'll turn right into the woods again but keep an eye on the phone as you will easily miss this turning.
In the woods follow the path downhill until you pop out onto another track/road where again you'll bear left and head along until you come to the T junction from earlier but this time you will turn right and head back down the hill and keep going until you get back to the Blue Bell pub in Ingleby Cross.
