Hemyock to Wellington Monument circular

Responsible for this content
Philippa ReaderA great route that starts in the Culm Valley and climbs up onto the northern ridgeline of the Blackdown Hills to the Wellington Monument before circling back through farm and woodland along footpaths and country lanes.

Distance 13.8 km
This route begins in Hemyock and climbs up onto Combe Hill and on to Wellington Monument following a combination of footpaths and country lanes.
There are a couple of short 400m sections along the busy road on the top of the Blackdown ridge. Unfortunately this is unavoidable so take care.
From the monument the route plunges down off the ridge through wood and farmland before returning up onto Quarts Moor.
The return takes in Clayhidon and an optional stop at the Half Moon Inn before dropping back down through more farmland into the River Culm valley. The final section is along country lanes.
