Heading south out of Chirton we climb the old rough track up onto Salisbury Plain. Once at the top we join the perimeter road, where we turm west towards Easterton. The views here are magnificent. To the North you have views across Pewsey Vale and the Marlborough downs. Unaided, you should be able to see two white horses to the North; Alton Barnes and Devizes white horses. To the South you can see for miles towards Salisbury across the unspoit landscape.
After a mile and a half or so the route turns southwest before, after another three quarters of a mile we descend in to the pretty village of Easterton. Easterton has a gin clear stream running down its main street, as well as an attractive thatched pub the Royal Oak
